Class Description:

For the next installment of Art of Touch, we’re doing something a little different. We will be covering how to use a selection of tools to practice massage techniques on yourself when you are dealing with your own aches and pains. The art of self care with the assistance of tools! We will have a different selection of tools for every edition of the self care class (with some repeats for highlights). This particular class will focus on the Theracane, Lacrosse ball, and silicone cups, as well as using your own hands and elbows.

In this interactive and hands-on lesson, we will be going over which situations to use which tools, and several different techniques to use them effectively on different areas of the body. There will be time at the end for more of a Q&A so attendees can ask for personalized techniques if they haven’t been covered in class already. Come join us for an evening of getting in touch with yourself and building your own body awareness and relaxation!

What to Expect:

  • Basic Anatomy: We will go over the basic structures and muscles that are common sites for chronic pain, and also talk about sites of caution and how to work around those delicate structures safely, even on yourself. We will also learn how to recognize the difference between “hurts-so-good” and “hurts-too-much” when doing self care.
  • Techniques: We will go over the principles and theories of different massage techniques that transfer over into self care, and how to use tools to aid us in accessing those hard-to reach places that we can’t quite reach with our own hands.
  • Hands-on Practice: We will be learning several different methods of using each tool on different areas of the body, and will have plenty of hands-on time to build confidence when using these tools and techniques independently.

This workshop provides a relaxed, exploratory space to get to know your own body better and pick up tools you can use long after class ends.

Doors open at 6:45pm, class starts at 7pm SHARP! Please be on time!

What to Bring:

  • Please bring your own supplies if possible, though I will have a few of each tool for the class to utilize if they don’t have their own.
  • Wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in and that allows access to the skin of the legs and arms up to the shoulder (cupping needs access to skin). This means a tank top or loose T shirt, and shorts if you want to have cupping on your legs.
